So nothing really eventful happened this weekend. I am so thankful for such a beautiful and happy child, without him this weekend coulda been a mopefest for me...but he just keeps me smiling!

G put on his flip flops Friday night, and texted Mimi saying she forgot something when packing for Myrtle...he kept saying "BEEEEACH!"

G (like Jake) doesn't realize how big he is, but he takes every chance he can to turn Jake from a "Dogdog" into a "Horseeeees"

My sweet little angel woke up Saturday morning and helped me clean.

We saw bumblebee when picking Papa up from work.

Saturday we took Ms. Jenn to lunch on her last free weekend before Miss. MacKenzie gets here! Afterwords, we played at the park and G passed out on the way home.

2 hours of snuggles while G napped on my chest? This is honestly the greatest feeling in the world.

My my my! I have the most handsome Valentine EVER!

AND....Videos from the weekend. #1 is just G cheesing, and talking about a school bus. #2 is G driving in circles around my chair in the living room (this went on for about 20min). #3 is an example of G's awesome imagination. I was getting the plaster to set for his hand/foot prints when all the sudden I hear him making car noises. I turn around and he is under the stool, pretending to drive a car. Oh I can't wait for him to start telling me about things!

So, Today my little stinker is 1 month old!He is getting so big!!! Sorry about the lack of posts lately...getting adjusted to being back to work (online from home of course!) and lil G getting adjusted to life in general has been keeping me on my toes...and there are times when could have made a post...but I got lost looking at him, trying to memorize everything about him instead!
I mean, wouldn't you rather see this a little late than me risking the chance of missing it all together?

Anyway, on to the updates! We had hope to announce this as our new car...as a matter of fact we had it...in the driveway...but had to take it back. Guess that is the man upstairs way of telling me to slow down and not sign the papers on a bigger car payment until I'm sure about how I'm going to handle daycare. I still REALLY want this car though...anyone care to cosign for me??? j/k

Speaking of daycare, there is only one thing that I can think of...RIDICULOUS!!! If it's not outrageously expensive, or for a long waiting list, it's not a place you want to leave your kid...and I can't just leave my angel baby with just anyone! I'm a nervous wreck just leaving him with my mom...and I trust my mom more than myself with him most days!!!

Dad is convinced that G doesn't like him...cuz he fusses most times when dad gets ahold of him...but I think this pic proves that he loves his Poppy!

He spent most of his bday sleeping...but we did take a trip to the Food Lion...note to self = don't go to the grocery store hungry!!!

On Sunday, Dad got us tickets to the Durham Bulls game. It was HOT!!! I can't believe how well G did. The heat make is already bad baby acne look even worse. Makes me wanna cry when I look at it!

And looking at these pics makes me realize that I desperately need a tan!

Anyway, for the grand finale - Developmental Milestone #1 : Rolling over!

So, today was fun. I woke up next to the most amazing little person EVER! Then we got up and got ready to go to church. He wore his new church outfit that his Mimi bought him (which is pretty awesome b/c the little polo is actually a onesie!)

He was just STARING at me while I fixed his breakfast so that someone else could feed him while I got ready...he would rather have been taking care of that task himself!

In the car on the way there he was entertained by the trees flying by...or maybe he was trying to figure out the WVU sticker my dad has on the window...

When we got back he had his lunch and we took a nap...best kind of sleep, I swear!

2 hours later I wake up to this face...snoring :)

And this was after he projectile spit-up on his Poppy...totally hilarious...I heard it happening from the other room...came in to find him, my dad, and the chair they were in totally covered...HILARIOUS! He was grinning so much afterwards, but of course that stopped as soon as I pulled out the camera.

I love my little man...seriously the best thing to ever happen to me, I doubt it will ever be topped.

I knew deep in my heart that there wouldn't be any problems, where my parents & sister are concerned, when my little man arrived...but it is still so funny to watch how goo-goo they are over him. Hard to not spoil him when all this adoration is around!

Mom can't stand to let him cry...she will drop everything to pick him up and get some sugar.

And Dad is giving up his seconds at dinner just for some quality cuddle time!

Blissfully Happy...

I seriously don't think I've been this happy in a very long time. No matter how much pain and heartache it took to get here, it was worth every step...and even though I was at rock bottom I wouldn't go back an change a thing for fear of losing this.

So, enough sappy! Just thought I'd share some pictures...Dad's sunflower plant burst with blooms like fireworks for Gabriel's homecoming!

Hey Lindsey, LOOK! NO BELLY! (well, there's belly...just minus 19lbs and 7 1/2 inches!)

Just being really cautious with Jake, until my incision heals all the way and I'm safely able to use my reaction time! But I don't think he'll be a problem...Gabriel will be riding on his back in no time!

This is the position he landed in after feeding...just looks like a drunk! Gotta love the Ramones onesie too! (Thanks Steph!)

This is the story of Gabriel's dramatic entry into the world...

Friday morning started out just like every day this past week...wake up, struggle to get out of bed, and get to work (from the couch...on the computer!). At 4 days past due, it was getting harder and harder to comfortably get around. I was told by Lindsey in my staff meeting conference call on Thursday that it was now a job requirement to supply her with a new belly pic, then a baby pic. Well, I got on the belly pic right away...46 1/2 inches around!!!

So, as the morning wore on I started feeling a little odd...so I decided to call mom to let her know what was going on and jumped in the shower to see if that would make me feel better. It was while I was in the shower that I noticed that it was after 11am and my lil man hadn't moved all morning! That got me worrying because normally he would tap dance with my morning chocolate milk. That solidified my decision to head into town. Maybe the car ride would get him moving.

Once in town, and at mom's office, I got back online to work...but he still wasn't moving. So I called the doctor, and they said that I needed to come in right away, so over to Durham OB/GYN we went.

Once I got there they took me downstairs to do a "Non-Stress Test"...do you know how difficult stairs are with a belly that big!?! Basically all the NST does is monitor the baby's heartrate and my contractions...as well as his movements. Well, he was barely moving at all, but did manage to give them a good loud kick...but just one.

After being monitored for almost half an hour the nurse said that she was going to go ahead and send me over to Durham Regional for more monitoring since he wasn't moving and I was having some small contractions (which was kinda news to me, b/c they just felt like regular cramps).

So, instead of going to get something to eat, like we had expected to do once leaving the doctor's office, we went to the hospital. This left me with only eating a bowl of cereal and some pop tarts all day...definitely H-U-N-G-R-Y!

When at the hospital, I started to get the feeling that the nurse wasn't telling me everything there was to tell before sending me over. When they checked me in, it was straight to a Labor & Delivery suite...but only for monitoring!

The nurse got me all hooked up to monitor his heartrate and movements, plus my contractions, heartrate and blood pressure. And they wouldn't let me eat anything except popsicles or jell-o! by now I could really tell that I was having contractions, but they weren't too bad...just lots of pressure!

A little after 7pm one of my doctors came on-call (Dr. Fetko is amazing!) She went over all of the data from my hours of monitoring, came in and said "So, are you ready to have a baby? Because I'm admitting you." So many thoughts were going through my head, but the main one I can remember is "FINALLY! Let's get this on!"

Dr. Fetko explained that my contractions were getting stronger and that after each one, my little man's heartrate would drop. This is not a good thing. At this point I was already at 3cm dialated, so she said she wanted to break my water and see if that would help things to progress faster on their own. (not going to go into all the hilarity of having my water broke...but ask me and I'll be sure to tell you...there was definitely some funny stuff that broke out!)

Once my water was broke, things did progress faster. My contractions got even stronger and I was not about to force myself through them. God made drugs for a reason! So we called the nurse and said the magic word "epidural". :) The anesthesiologist was kinda wierded out by me b/c I was having frequent and strong contractions...and he was putting a needle in my back...but I kept making jokes. Especially about my water breaking (again, ask about the stories...this one is my favorite!)

On with the show! Next check I was at 6cm...then 8cm! But things were starting to get scary. When they give you an epidural, they start checking your blood pressure every 2 min. and mine was dropping. Little man's heartrate was still dropping at the end of each contraction, but to add to that...his heartrate basically stopped when my blood pressure hit rock bottom. The started pumping me with fluids and ephedrine to get my BP back up, but his heartrate was doing crazy stuff that was really getting me worried.

At the next check I was still at 8cm, and lil man wasn't doing so good. Dr. Fetko came in and looked concerned. She said that she really wished there was another option and that she had tried everything, but time was dwindling to be able to give birth vaginally and my contractions had slowed instead of picking up. She said that she knew I really didn't want a c-section, but with how things were looking she really wanted me to go ahead and get one. She was getting more and more concerned with how lil man was holding up and wanted to get him out with as little stress as possible. Obviously I was upset, but I didn't care. I told her "whatever is going to be best for my son is what I'm going to do".

So off to the E.R. we went! Wheeled in at 4:10, lord was it cold in there! They put this blue sheet in front of my face and upped my drug intake. WOOHOO! I did get a little anxious when I thought they had forgot to go get momma, but in she came and they worked fast!

This is the first pic of my little angel! Dr. Fetko pulled him out, wiped his face and mom snapped this shot. I was amazed at how clean he came out! Dr. Fetko held him over the sheet to see me and I said "That's my boy!"...he opened his eyes and looked straight at me! I was crying my eyes out at this point. I sent mom with him and the pediatricians to get cleaned up and was being wheeled out of the OR at 5:10...only in there an hour! WOW!

I was definitely right about the head full of hair! HEARTBURN!!!

Once Dr. Fetko came back to talk to me I realized that I had made the perfect decision in not waiting any longer to do the c-section. Not only was he 9 lbs. (which Dr. Fetko said she would have sent me straight to the OR as soon as I was admitted if she had've known that!), but he also had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck twice! SCARY! She also said that he had an 8cm ring on his head where he was trying to come out, but wouldn't fit. Dr. Fetko said he never would have, and then we would have had to do the c-section anyway. Good call Doc!

Not all the drama was finished...They wanted to keep my baby in the nursery because his blood sugar was low. This made me upset because I wanted him! And because I wanted to breast feed, I wanted to have him ASAP...so I could feed him and get that started right away. They tried feeding him formula (which made me mad), but he kept spitting it up (good boy!)...so once I got him, he latched right on and went to town! MY LITTLE ANGEL! He knew exactly what to do!

Now he's here, and you know the story...long and dramatic. Born on his father's birthday (like I knew he would be). He barely cries and is the most beautiful thing in the world. I just want to cry when looking at him. He is definitely worth all of the heartache and pain. I wouldn't trade him for the world.

This is his blog...to record his story...but don't expect a book every time! I'm a mom now, so a short post once or twice a week will definitely be an accomplishment!
